METRO increases its online offering to better serve even more customers

Montréal, April 23, 2020 – As part of its e-commerce strategy, and to better respond to the exceptionally high demand for online grocery during this pandemic period, METRO is adding two new online ordering services to its portfolio.

Priority Services

The new M Priority pick-up service (metro.ca/en/mpriority), while available to all customers, has been created so Metro can prioritize their service to seniors and customers with reduced mobility or self-isolating. This grocery ordering service uses a simplified web form allowing customers to pick up their pre-assembled order outside the store and simplifies the process if someone is dependent on others to do their grocery shopping. The service is currently being deployed to 97 Metro stores in Ontario by the end of next week and is available in 135 Metro stores in Quebec. The Mediterranean Adonis banner, with its two locations in Mississauga, one in Scarborough and one in Ottawa, will also offer this service. Customers who used to call their store to place an order will now be able to use this more convenient service.

Cornershop

METRO is happy to announce a new partnership with Cornershop, an on-demand grocery service accessible through the web or a mobile application. Currently available, Cornershop allows customers to receive their orders directly at home, in as little as 60 minutes, all prepared by a personal shopper in a Metro grocery store.  This service is in addition to Metro's online grocery shopping.

“These are unprecedented times and our teams are deploying exceptional efforts to serve Canadians, both in store and online,” said Marc Giroux, Executive Vice President, Quebec Division Head and eCommerce. “We will continue to make every effort in each of our banners to keep our employees and our customers safe and serve their needs every day, especially our elderly customers who need to protect themselves by staying home.”
Through its network of food stores and pharmacies, METRO has been on the frontlines providing an essential service since the beginning of this crisis. The health and safety of everyone is at the heart of its decisions, and every day new measures are implemented to provide a safe and pleasant environment for employees and customers. Visit  the corporate website for more details on the various measures in place.
