An investment of over $15,5 Million
JONQUIÈRE, August 8, 2024 - The Thibeault family, owner of Metro Plus Thibeault, proudly opened his brand-new store this morning located at 2651 Boulevard du Royaume à Jonquière. This completely rebuilt supermarket has reopened its doors to offer consumers a completely new experience. The nearly 32,500 sq. ft. store, now under the Metro Plus banner, required an investment of over $15.5 million.
The new Metro Plus has been designed to ensure an optimal shopping experience and giving our product assortment the importance they deserve. The store offers all the freshness, product diversity and quality of service that Metro has been known to deliver for over 75 years. This expansion also creates approximately 30 additional jobs, bringing the total number of employees to 90.

Fresher and more complete
Freshness, one of Metro’s top priorities, is omnipresent inside the store. The impressive produce department features local and seasonal products, as well as fresh-cut fruit, and in-store salads.
To meet the needs of all its customers, the supermarket now offers an enhanced offering at the hot counter, as well as an Aki Sushi counter offering a selection of delicious high-end sushi. Customers will also be able to enjoy tasty pizzas that are prepared and baked on-site.
The fish counter now includes a fish smoker and a team of professionals behind the service counter to provide advice and prepare a wide range of fresh and tasty seafood products.
In the butcher’s department, professional teams prepare fresh cuts to order, suggest products, and offer tips to prepare and cook meats perfectly. A wide variety of meats are available, including smoked, organic and ready-to-cook.
The Microbrewery section has also been expanded, and now offers a diversified selection of microbrewery beers, including traditional, craft and Quebec microbrewery beers. A wider selection of wines is also available.
The bakery, for its part, has a wide variety of artisanal local products featuring renowned Québec company Première Moisson as well as famous baklavas from Adonis.
Finally, a new section of bulk products is now available, featuring a variety of items from nuts and dried fruits to chocolates and candies.
In addition to the outstanding customer service found in all departments. Customers will also be able to pay for their purchases at one of the self-serves checkouts or enjoy the benefits of online grocery shopping with in-store pick-up.
