Food Basics Joins Courtice Community as New Local Grocery Store

Courtice (Ontario), March 25, 2021 –  This week, Food Basics will officially open the doors of its newest and first location in Courtice, Ontario. On March 25, the modern 34,000 square foot site located at 1649 Highway 2, Unit #1 - just off Highway 2 - will open in the town centre making shopping convenient to Courtice residents. 

Customers will be able to shop for budget-friendly Irresistibles and Selection products at the new location which will include fresh BBQ chickens, a garden centre, Ontario Lottery & Gaming and fresh groceries.

“Food Basics is always looking to expand to new communities and we are excited that our first location here is in the heart of Courtice,” says John Manax, Vice President of Operations, Food Basics. “Residents who may be first-time shoppers at Food Basics will get to know us as a discount grocer that is a reliable source for fresh, always in-stock, healthy food at great prices.”

To showcase their appreciation and commitment to the community, Food Basics Courtice will donate $2,000 to the Family Worship & Outreach Centre who are a part of the Feed the Need network in Durham.

“The pandemic has been tough for many people and their families, which is why we are pleased to be able to create 110 jobs for the Courtice community and provide locals with quality and affordable products,” said Dave Darling, Store Manager, Food Basics. “To welcome our new employees and continue the Food Basics tradition, we will provide each staff member with gift bags and gift cards from around the region to support local Mom-and-Pop shops.”

Residents can begin to shop at the Food Basics in Courtice on March 25 with store hours on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Food Basics is taking all the necessary steps to keep staff, customers and the entire community safe and healthy. The store will be sanitized regularly according to the strictest hygiene standards, including increased frequency of equipment cleaning, especially in high-traffic areas.
