MONTREAL, May 28, 2015 - After 7 months of work, the Amqui Metro inaugurated its new space last night, entirely redesigned and improved. Thanks to some 7,000 additional square feet and a 5 million dollar investment, Nicolas Turgeon’s store was rethought and provides exciting offerings in all departments; major changes that the people of Amqui can now benefit from, and that led to the hiring of 15 new employees.
You’ll now find a meat and fish counter with service, bakery items and pastries made on-site, including the line of Première Moisson products, with service, organic, gluten-free and healthy products, a wide choice of cut flowers, a wide variety of fresh produce processed in-store, and greater offerings in all categories. The prepared dishes section will surely delight customers with balanced and ready-to-eat meals prepared by an in-store chef, complete offerings of salads and sandwiches for all tastes, as well as restaurant-style pizzas cooked on-site.
Local products
The Amqui Metro also takes part in Metro’s Local Purchasing Policy, recently implemented in the Lower St. Lawrence region. As a result, the store now hosts a wider variety of local products, with close to 100 new products from 16 local suppliers.
« I’m proud to welcome my customers into a larger space, in a new setting and a new environment, and to be able to offer them the very best in all categories! » said Nicolas Turgeon, franchise owner of the Amqui Metro. "My team and I will continue to do everything possible to make sure that each customer that walks through our doors will have a unique experience."
This investment adds to the approximately 25 million dollars that Metro has invested in its network of stores in the Lower St. Lawrence/Gaspésie region since acquiring the Groupe PG supermarkets in 2009. Metro now has 11 stores in the Lower St. Lawrence region, providing employment to more than 600 people.
