The Metro Plus Vaudreuil opens its doors
A supermarket on the cutting edge of food trends

Montreal, May 1st, 2014  – Following six months of work, the new Metro Plus Vaudreuil, located at 3000 de la Gare Blvd., the chain’s 210th store in Quebec, will open this morning. Thanks to an investment of close to 12 million dollars, area consumers will be welcomed into a modern store measuring almost 43,000 square feet, on the cutting edge of food trends. About one hundred employees will be on hand to make the shopping experience even more personal.

“The tastes and needs of Quebecers with respect to food are becoming more and more refined. Here, our customers will be able to find everything they want and have access to fresh, distinctive, high quality products at an affordable price. The people of Vaudreuil deserve the very best. That’s why we have put everything in place to provide them with a store that meets their expectations”, said Francine Roy, franchisee-owner of the Metro Plus Vaudreuil.

Consumers will indeed have access to distinctive products that will satisfy the finest gourmets: fresh juices and smoothies made on the spot, incredible offerings of artisan cheeses, at the counter with service or the help of a Metro expert, a bistro on-site, to enjoy the wide variety of dishes prepared in-store, an olive bar and a nut bar with service, sushi made on-site, artisan breads available at the service counter, a bread slicer on-site, to slice the bread the way the customer wants it, a beef aging room, a fish smoker as well as a wide variety of large seafood, fine chocolates, a large section of locally brewed beers, and several local products.

Respect for the environment
Several measures have been adopted by the Metro Plus Vaudreuil to better manage energy consumption. Thus, the white roof is a way to battle against heat islands by reflecting the sun’s rays and to help reduce energy consumption by decreasing air conditioning needs and the heat expelled by the refrigeration systems is recirculated to preheat the store's air. A DEL lighting system was also set up, which considerably reduces light pollution outside. The store’s mechanical systems (refrigeration, air conditioning/heating, lighting) are also handled by electronic control which maximizes performance. All of these efforts will lead to reducing the store’s energy consumption.
