The Irresistibles smoothie, gluten free ravioli and frozen treats impress the jury
Montreal, June 25, 2014 – Metro and its Irresistibles private label scored a hat trick at the Canadian Grand Prix New Product Awards, presented by the Retail Council of Canada (RCC). Of the six awards handed out in the ‘Private Label’ category, three were won by Irresistibles products: Irresistibles Life Smart Mucho-Mango smoothie (Beverages), Irresistibles dark chocolate covered Mini Sorbet Bars (Confectionery, Snack & Dessert) and Irresistibles Gluten Free Cheese Ravioli (Prepared Food & Entrees). The awards ceremony serves to reward innovation and excellence in the Canadian food industry and the winners were announced in Toronto on June 4.
Mucho-Mango Smoothie
The new Irresistibles Life Smart fruit and vegetable smoothies offer a surprising fruity taste along with the benefits of pureed vegetables and fruit juices. The Mucho-Mango flavour with the great taste of mangos ripened in the sun is an excellent source of magnesium as well as vitamins A and C. One 250 ml glass of this drink is equivalent to one serving of fruit and one serving of vegetables
Mini Sorbet Bars
Made from real pureed raspberries and dark chocolate, these delicious rich tasting frozen Irresistibles bars contain only 80 calories per 55 ml portion and are an excellent source of iron.
Gluten Free Cheese Ravioli
Being gluten intolerant is no reason to give up taste! Along with being delicious, this Irresistibles Gluten Free cheese ravioli is high in fibre and vitamins A and C. It also provides a high level of calcium and magnesium. It’s a great way to combine good taste with good sense!
The Grand Prix winners were selected by a jury consisting of consumers, journalists and members of the grocery industry. The jury was chaired by Luc Boissy, Director of Product Development for the Bâton Rouge restaurant chain. The jury met in Montreal in February to evaluate national brand and private label food products. Judges assessed the non-food products in their homes over a six-week period. The jury narrowed down the list of products to 122 finalists, after grading each of them on five criteria: uniqueness and innovation, product characteristics, presentation and packaging, overall consumer value and consumer acceptance (household penetration rate of a product).
