An investment of over 12 million dollars for the construction of the new Metro Plus Centre-ville in Lac-Mégantic

Montreal, April 28, 2014  – It was with great pride that Mr. Denis Brisebois, Vice-President, Retail Operations, Metro Banner, East, carried out today the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the new Metro Plus Centre-ville in Lac-Mégantic. The event was attended by dignitaries, including Mayor Colette Roy-Laroche and Mr. Ghislain Bolduc, MNA for Mégantic, as well as by business people from the area.

Following an investment of over 12 million dollars, the future Metro Plus Centre-ville will have a total surface area of close to 34,000 square feet, which is 7,000 square feet more than the old store located on rue Frontenac and closed since July 6, 2013 events. It will employ approximately 100 people, and will include a sushi counter, a meat counter with a butcher, an in-store chef who will prepare several ready-to-eat dishes, a bistro, the new produce concept providing greater variety and more freshness, and of course, more varieties in all product categories. Most suppliers being used to build it are local entrepreneurs.

The supermarket is scheduled to open in mid-October of 2014.
