Jean Coutu and Brunet expand their presence on the Uber Eats app in Eastern Canada

Montreal, July 3, 2024 - METRO and Uber announce the deployment of their partnership in the Jean Coutu and Brunet banners to allow a greater number of consumers to benefit from the ordering and delivery service for health and beauty products on the Uber Eats application. These services, which have been offered in 68 Jean Coutu stores, will now be available in nearly 260 Jean Coutu stores in Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick and more than 60 Brunet stores. This partnership represents a significant gain for the Brunet banner, as it enters the world of online commerce, giving it greater visibility with additional customers.

METRO and Uber Eats began their collaboration in 2019 with Metro, Super C and Adonis offering grocery delivery on the app. Today, the Jean Coutu and Brunet service offer will enable customers to benefit from same-day delivery in as little as two hours on a wider choice of products, while 12,000 products will be added to the online offer, totalling more than 15,000 items offered at the same prices as in-store, such as a box of chocolates, diapers, soap or even perfume.

"The expansion of our partnership with Uber Eats enables us to continue to meet the evolving needs of Jean Coutu and Brunet customers by offering them an additional online shopping option. This platform, which has grown in popularity over the past few years, has become a must-have for online commerce" said Jonathan Gendreau, Vice President, Online Commerce and Digital Strategy, METRO.

"Buying local is important to 70% of Quebec consumers, according to a recent study by NeilsonQ. The addition of nearly 190 stores of the Jean Coutu network and the integration of the Brunet network, two local brands, mark an important step for Uber Eats in meeting customer demand to shop at local retailers for their essential health and beauty products, and at the same time strengthens our presence in Quebec," says Jonathan Hamel, Public Affairs Manager for Uber in Quebec.

Note that the selection of products offered on the Uber Eats mobile app excludes over-the-counter and prescription drugs. The Uber Eats offer is in addition to the medication delivery service already offered by pharmacist-owners affiliated with Jean Coutu and Brunet, and to the online ordering and in-store pick-up service at participating Jean Coutu stores.
