Grocer creates 130 jobs with the opening of its 131st store in Ontario
NIAGARA FALLS (ON) – August 25, 2023: Today, Metro officially opened the doors of its newest location at 7835 McLeod Road in Niagara Falls. The modern store covers over 44,000 square feet and is the banner’s 131st store in Ontario. The store has hired a team of 130 employees and features products and services tailored to the needs of the community.
Customers will be able to shop a variety of fresh and local products including Foodland Ontario produce, quality Irresistibles and Selection products, ready-made meals, a full floral section, pharmacy, Nature’s Signature, free electric vehicle charging stations and online click-and-collect ordering.
“This new store is a true reflection of Niagara Falls. We are giving customers what they want including an expanded health and wellness offering, local products through our Locally Sourced program and a great selection of ready-made meals including stone baked artisan pizza and fresh rotisserie chicken. It is important to us that our store integrates with the community, so we’ve tailored our product offering and store décor to the neighbourhood,” says Joe Fusco, Senior Vice President, Metro.
The store has officially been named Metro Niagara Falls and the décor features photos of local landmarks to pay tribute to the surrounding community. To further strengthen its commitment to the community, Metro will donate $10,000 to Project Share who is affiliated with Feed Ontario – a long-time partner, notably through One More Bite, METRO’s food recovery program which has distributed more than 23 million kilograms of food, helping to fight food insecurity while keeping waste out of landfills between 2016 to 2022.

Customers can start shopping at Metro Niagara Falls on August 24 with store hours Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
