Metro Winona Crossing joins Stoney Creek with new location

Toronto, September 26, 2019 - Metro will open its doors to its newest location, Metro Winona Crossing, on Thursday, September 26 at 1370 South Service Road, Stoney Creek, and will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. This location represents a major investment by Metro, bringing 140 jobs to Winona, and features products and services tailored to the needs of the community.

Featuring fresh cut fruit and salads, artisan breads baked in-store daily, made-to-order artisan pizza, an assortment of organic and health and wellness products, a Nescafe Coffee Bar and so much more, the new store’s product offering will be a welcomed addition to the community.

“This new store is a true reflection of Winona. We are giving customers what they want including an expanded health and wellness offering, local products through our Locally Sourced program and a great selection of ready-made meals including stone baked artisan pizza for busy young families. It is important to us that our store integrates with the community, so we’ve tailored our product offering and store décor to the neighbourhood,” says Joe Fusco, Senior Vice President, Metro.

The store has officially been named Metro Winona Crossing while the décor features photos of local landmarks including Fifty Point Conservation Area, Battlefield House Museum and Puddicombe Farms to pay tribute to the surrounding community.

To emphasize its commitment to playing an active role in the communities in which it operates, Metro will present $1,000 to three schools in the community through Metro’s Green Apple School Program. St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary School, Winona Elementary School and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Elementary School will each receive a $1,000 grant to implement programs that encourage their students to adopt healthy eating habits. Each year, Metro gives out $500,000 in grants through the Green Apple School Program to elementary and secondary schools across Ontario to encourage kids to increase their consumption of fruits and vegetables. This year’s applications are now open at www.greenapple.metro.ca.

To further encourage children to make healthy choices, Metro will be hosting a kids’ event on Saturday September 28 and Sunday September 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as part of the grand opening activities. Children of all ages will be empowered to make their own healthy lunches using fresh and delicious snacks and ingredients from their local Metro. Visit Metro Winona Crossing during grand opening for more activities for the whole family!
