Grocer commits to delivering “Freshness Delivered to Your Door” to its GTA customersf commitments to reduce use and optimize practices
TORONTO, May 7, 2019 – Metro now offers a fresh, fast and personal shopping experience to its customers in the GTA with the rollout of its online grocery shopping service in Ontario. The platform will now be offered in the Greater Toronto Area servicing 1.9M households and will give customers the opportunity to spend more time at home with friends and family.
“We are extremely happy to offer online grocery shopping to our customers in the GTA,” said Joe Fusco, Senior Vice President – Metro. “Metro’s online grocery shopping will give customers the opportunity to shop for their favorite products, without having to leave their home”.
To help bring Metro’s Freshness Delivered to Your Door commitment to fruition, products are hand-selected by Metro employees specifically trained to select the freshest in-store products, so that customers feel as though they’ve picked them themselves. To ensure that freshness is maintained from the moment it leaves the store until the time it arrives, Metro’s exclusive Tri-Zone™ delivery trucks have been implemented for delivery. Here, products are in designated, temperature-controlled areas (ambient, refrigerated and frozen zones) while items are in-transit, to optimize preservation and guarantee freshness for customers.
“Customers using the online platform can easily choose between grocery pick-up and delivery, as it pertains to their schedule and lifestyle,” added Gino Plevano, Vice President, Digital Strategy and Online Shopping, METRO. “Another benefit – online shoppers will receive the same access to discounts and promotions as they would shopping in-store.”
In light of Metro’s promise for fast service, customers who shop Metro products online can benefit from same day-delivery if groceries are ordered before 1 p.m., and next-day delivery if ordered before midnight. They can also have their orders placed for pick-up at Metro Millcroft (2010 Appleby Line, Burlington) and Metro St. Clair (2155 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto), the two hub stores currently serving the GTA radius.
