Food Basics rejoins the Hamilton Community

Hamilton, September 26, 2019 - Food Basics opened its doors to its 7th location in Hamilton on Thursday, September 26, at 751 Upper James Street. A grand opening celebration was held that morning, and featured light refreshments, and a ribbon cutting ceremony with Councilor John-Paul Danko.

With over 36,000 sq. ft. of modern retail space, Food Basics on Upper James Street will feature organic produce and OLG Lottery. In addition to the beautiful new space, the grocer also offers customers a wide array of its high-quality, budget-friendly Irresistibles and Selection products.

“We have a strong presence here in Hamilton. Opening our newest location serves as our commitment to be the local community grocer and meet the evolving needs of our customers”, says John Manax, Vice President of Operations, Food Basics.

To strengthen community ties, a cheque of $1,000 was presented at the ribbon-cutting ceremony to the Neighbor to Neighbor Centre who provides food and other necessities to improve the overall quality of life for those in the community.

Since 1995, Food Basics has been helping customers save money on their grocery needs by providing Always More for Less. Food Basics is the discount banner of Metro Ontario Inc. and currently operates more than 130 stores across Ontario.
