Montreal, November 7, 2019 - On Thursday November 7, Food Basics held a grand opening celebration at its newest location in Oshawa. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held that morning, with The Royal Canadian Legion, Mayor Dan Carter, Paul Bravi, Senior Vice-President, Food Basics, and John Manax, Vice President of Operations, Food Basics.
The modern retail space represents a major investment by Food Basics, employing approximately 100 employees. This location offers customers organic produce, Ontario Lottery & Gaming, and a wide array of its high-quality, budget friendly Irresistibles and Selection products.
"Opening our new location ahead of Remembrance Day is a special moment for Food Basics. We’re thrilled to join the Oshawa community and provide residents with quality products at always great prices” said John Manax, Vice President of Operations, Food Basics.
As part of the grand opening celebrations, The Royal Canadian Legion presented Food Basics with a wreath during a commemorative ceremony. The presentation honoured the fallen and the sacrifices made by Canadians. As a gesture of gratitude, Food Basics donated $2,000 to The Royal Canadian Legion for their continued efforts in supporting veterans and their families.
“It’s an honour to remember the brave men and women who served, and continue to serve, our country at home and abroad. We acknowledge their courage and sacrifices they made so that we may live in peace and freedom today” said Manax.
To further strengthen community ties, Food Basics also presented a cheque for $2,000 to Simcoe Hall Settlement House for their commitment to improving the lives of the less advantaged.
Since 1995, Food Basics has been helping customers save money on their grocery needs by providing Always More for Less. Food Basics operates on three guiding principles: Always Fresh, Always in Stock and Always at Great Prices.
