Port Hope, August 8, 2019 - Food Basics will open its doors to a brand-new location at 8 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, in Port Hope, ON at 125 Hope Street South. A grand opening celebration will be held for the public that morning, and will feature light refreshments, in store sampling and a ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Bob Sanderson.

With over 32,000 sq. ft. of modern retail space, Food Basics in Port Hope will feature organic produce and OLG Lottery. In addition to the gorgeous new space, the grocer also offers customers a wide array of its high-quality, budget-friendly Irresistibles and Selection products.

“There is such an incredible buzz in the community, says store manager Wayne Donohue. This is first Food Basics in Port Hope and this is an exciting opportunity for residents to get to know us as a discount grocer that is a reliable source for fresh, always in-stock, healthy food at great prices”.

“Food Basics recognizes the role it plays in the lives of our customers.  We want to see communities thrive and it’s important that we continue to add value to Port Hope says John Manax, Vice President of Operations, Food Basics. Therefore, we’ve decided to sponsor the Port Hope Panthers.”

To further strengthen its ties with the community, Food Basics will present a cheque at the ribbon-cutting ceremony to the Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank to provide food and other necessities to individuals and families in need.
