Ste-Anne-des-Monts, February 23, 2017 –This morning marked the inauguration of the completion of the major work carried out at the Ste-Anne-des-Monts Metro store. The 4.5 million dollars in renovations, which got underway in August of 2016, resulted in the 25,000 square foot store being revamped from top to bottom and improving the shopping experience, by offering more services and products to the consumers of Ste-Anne-des-Monts and the Haute-Gaspésie.
Steve Dumont, the store’s franchisee, Éric Leclerc, Senior Director – Retail Operations for Metro, along with several of the region’s senior officials and business people, took part in the symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Many great new items are now available to the clientele, including a sushi and Thai food counter unique to the region, pizza baked on-site every day, a fish counter with service, a méchoui, as well as a more accessible bakery, offering artisan breads and a great selection of Première Moisson products, including fine pastries.
Customers now have access to a wider variety of products in all of the store’s departments, in particular three times as many organic and gluten-free products, twice as many fine cheeses and artisan cheeses, a broader selection of deli meats, a larger choice of homemade beers and microbreweries, a section of refrigerated wines and wines from Quebec, a greater variety of dishes prepared by an in-store chef, an enhanced produce section that includes mushrooms sold in bulk, and finally, a full range of regional and local products.
Steve Dumont, who has been the franchisee since 2013 but an emblematic figure of the store since 2004, said that he is delighted to be able to welcome his loyal customers into a fully redesigned decor and layout.
This investment is in addition to the approximately 35 million dollars invested by METRO in its network of stores in the Gaspésie/Lower-St-Lawrence region since the company’s acquisition of the Groupe GP supermarkets in 2009. Metro has 14 Metro and Super C stores in the region, providing employment for over 600 people.
