THE GREEN APPLE SCHOOL PROGRAM IS BACK!
Metro is again donating $1 million in grants to encourage healthy eating habits in young people

Montréal, September 10, 2014 - Metro Inc. is launching the third edition of its Green Apple School Program. Again this year, Metro is inviting elementary and high schools in Quebec to create a project that promotes healthy eating habits and that will have a positive impact on young people’s homes, schools or communities. One thousand schools will receive a grant of $1,000 to carry out their project, and one school that distinguishes itself will win a grant of $15,000.

«We are very proud to give schools the chance to enter the Metro Green Apple School Program again this year. Thousands of young people will be able to discover new foods, have fun cooking, and build a vegetable garden: in short, to have fun while they learn about healthy eating,” stated Marie-Claude Bacon, Senior Director, Corporate Affairs Department, Metro. “Metro wants to show that eating well is easy, fun and delicious by encouraging young people to adopt healthy eating habits as early as possible, habits that they will keep throughout their lives.»
