Montreal, January 22, 2026 — In 2025, METRO donated the equivalent of 26 million meals to its community partners through its two flagship initiatives in the fight against food insecurity.
A record $3.7 million raised for the fourth annual Healthy Together campaign
More than $3.7 million was raised, the equivalent of 7.4 million meals, for three organizations: Feed Ontario, Food Banks of Quebec (BAQ), and Feed NB, to help them meet the needs of hundreds of thousands of people in need of assistance. This record amount was made possible thanks to the generosity of customers and a corporate donation of $1,150,000. Since the initiative was launched, a total of nearly $13 million has been raised and redistributed.
In November and December, customers of Metro, Food Basics, Super C, Adonis, Première Moisson, Jean Coutu, and Brunet stores in Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick were invited to make a donation at checkout in-store and online. All funds raised are redistributed locally.
"Healthy Together is one of the many initiatives we are implementing to provide concrete support within our communities. This campaign, which fully embodies our purpose to nourish the health and well-being of our communities, provides valuable assistance to our long-standing partners as they emerge from a busy holiday season," said Marie-Claude Bacon, Vice President, Public Affairs and Communications, METRO.
One More Bite: the equivalent of more than 18.7 million meals
For four years now, the fundraising campaign has reinforced and complemented the impact of METRO’s One More Bite food recovery program, which aims to extend the life of food and reduce food waste. In 2025, more than 9.35 million kilograms of food recovered from our stores and distribution centres were donated to our partners Feed Ontario, Second Harvest and BAQ, the equivalent of 18.7 million meals. Food security is a central pillar of METRO's community investment program, which is supported by this flagship initiative to recover and redistribute unsold food to communities. One More Bite has recovered and redistributed nearly 45 million kilograms of food since its beginning, the equivalent of some 90 million meals.
METRO is actively involved in the communities where it operates through financial support and food donations. METRO is also PRISM certified by Imagine Canada for donating at least one per cent of its pre-tax profits to local communities.
