NEPEAN (ON) - October 30, 2025 - Food Basics officially opens its newest location in Nepean today, featuring a full‑service pharmacy. The modern, 43,000 square foot site, located at 3831 Cambrian Road, will employ a team of 125 people and is the discount banner’s 152nd store. In 2025, Food Basics is celebrating its 30th anniversary of offering "Always More for Less."

“We are excited to bring Food Basics to the Nepean community, offering more ways for residents to save on quality products,” said John Manax, Vice President of Operations, Food Basics. “No matter where you live, people are always looking for ways to save. As part of the new store, the Food Basics Pharmacy will provide patient‑focused health care by offering a wide variety of professional services such as vaccinations, personalized medication reviews, minor ailment assessments, and more. Customers can conveniently shop our complete range of pharmacy products including vitamins, health and beauty essentials, and baby care items, helping them meet their health and wellness needs with the support of our in‑store pharmacists.

“We’re pleased to offer Nepean residents convenient access to pharmacy services right inside their local Food Basics,” said Lyman Kwok, Vice President, Pharmacy Operations, Metro Ontario Inc. “Our team is here to support the health needs of the community with readily accessible care.”

To further strengthen its commitment to the community, Food Basics will donate $5,000 to the Barrhaven Food Cupboard, which is 100 per cent volunteer operated and helps 500+ families every month with food assistance at times of need.

“Our main goal is to provide our customers with the best discount shopping experience possible with the most value at the lowest prices possible,” said Brian Clements, Store Manager, Food Basics. “We’re excited to open our doors and welcome the Nepean community to our new, modern store.”
