BARRIE, May 8, 2025 – Today, Metro officially opened the doors of its newest location at 640 Mapleview Drive East in Barrie, Ontario. The modern store covers over 43,000 square feet and will employe a team of 120 people and features products and services tailored to the needs of the community.
Customers will be able to shop for a variety of Canadian and local products, including Foodland Ontario produce, quality Irresistible and Selection products, meals to go, a full floral section, fresh bakery, full-service meat and seafood, pharmacy, Nature’s Signature and free electric vehicle charging stations. Additionally, customers can earn Moi Rewards at Metro and have the option to order groceries online at Metro.ca for quick and easy click-and-collect and home delivery.

Metro will be your go-to destination for fresh and local products, featuring the best Simcoe County has to offer. Integrating seamlessly within the community is important to us, so we’ve tailored our product offerings and store décor to match the neighbourhood,” says Joe Fusco, Senior Vice President, Metro.
The store has officially been named Metro South Barrie, with décor that celebrates the local community by featuring photos of nearby landmarks. To further demonstrate its commitment to the community, Metro will donate $5,000 to the Barrie Food Bank, which is affiliated with Feed Ontario – a long-time partner. Through METRO’s food recovery program, One More Bite, over 35.5 million kilograms of food have been distributed between 2016 and 2024, helping to combat food insecurity and reduce waste in landfills.

Starting May 8, customers can shop the new Metro Barrie daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. To celebrate the grand opening, Thursday through Saturday, the store will have tasty samples available. Until May 14, Moi Rewards members will receive an exclusive offer – spend $125 get 500 points.
