Young Entrepreneur Émile Gariépy’s Pumpkins on Sale at Metro

MONTREAL, September 28, 2015Metro is delighted to offer its customers Émile’s pumpkins, grown by the 12-year old entrepreneur from St-Roch-de-l’Achigan, in four Metro Plus stores in Lanaudière. Émile’s pumpkins, easily identifiable by a sticker, are on sale as of today at a cost of $3.50 per unit.

“We’re proud to encourage the next generation of farmers” said Bernadette Hamel, Vice President, National Procurement – Produce for Metro. “We were really touched by Émile’s story. This boy possesses the entrepreneurial spirit and we’re happy to support him in his dream to become a farmer” she added. Émile’s dream is to become a farmer with his own field to grow his pumpkins in.

Charmed by the young man’s determination while watching the show last April, Metro got in touch with the family. That’s how things got started, eventually leading to an agreement to distribute and promote the products in four Metro supermarkets in Lanaudière, where Émile was born.

“I’m proud of my crop. My pumpkins look great” said Émile Gariepy. “I want to thank my family and friends for helping me with this project. My dream of becoming a farmer is getting closer to coming true and that encourages me for the future” he added.

You can find Émile’s pumpkins in the Lachenaie, L’Épiphanie, Mascouche and Terrebonne Metro stores, for as long as supplies last. See all details in store.
