April 19, 2010 - By June 17 - GP Food Stores to became Metro GP supermarkets

Mont-Joli, April 19, 2010 – Metro Inc. is announcing that its seven GP stores will be sporting the Metro GP banner by June 17. The quality of the shopping experience and the products offered in-store, notably the vast selection of local products, much appreciated by customers, will remain unchanged.

"This decision confirms Metro's commitment to the Pelletier family's brilliant work with its customers, employees and suppliers over the past 50 years. This means that the same team that was devoted and attentive to customers' needs, supported by the Mont-Joli office, will be there to greet you in the seven Metro GP supermarkets in the Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie," declared Christian Bourbonnière, Senior Vice-President, Quebec Division of Metro Inc.

With this move, Metro is enhancing the heritage of the GP banner and increaseing its visibility in the Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie region following the acquisition completed last September.

Local businesses will be called upon to make the planned changes to the store signs.
